I know I should probably have a central theme to this blog. . . but I don't. I just wanna write. If you do end up reading, you're gonna find my inner-most thoughts about MUSIC, SPORTS, FASHION, MEDIA, MOVIES, and things going on in my life. Whether there are any readers or not, you best believe I'm going to write.
So, I have been planning on starting a blog for a while now. And thanks to my chronic procrastination, I’ve finally started. I’m supposed to be writing my Western Civ. Midterm on Louis XIV, but honestly, that class is pissing me off. Like straight-up, History has never been my forte. It does not grab my attention, and I’m even willing to say, I just don’t care. Frankly, the future interests me much more. And how could it not—given the current scenario I am in right now.
Bit 'a background:
My name's Andres Rodriguez. I am a first generation Colombian-American. That means I speak fluent Spanish, love salsa, and I love being Latino. I played football all four years of high school--there will never be anything like those four years. I come from Central Falls, Rhode Island (that’s RHODE ISLAND—not LONG ISLAND—thank you). CF’s about one-square mile big, urban, and packed to the brim with amazing people. I don’t wanna get too deep into my hometown just yet—so I’ll save that for a future post. Anyway, I’m out of there now (I miss the shit out of it). I’m in Baltimore, Maryland, a freshman attending Loyola University Maryland (COMPLETE 360 from what CF is), which is why I say the future is looking a million times more interesting than writing about Louis XIV and his bitchass absolute monarchy.
Music: Too many--but, I could listen to these guys everyday: Jay-Z, Eminem, Blink-182, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Yellowcard, John Mayer, Ne-Yo.
Sports: New England Patriots (start the "hate" chants), Boston Celtics, not big on baseball but a RedSox fan. Atletico Nacional--club soccer team from Colombia.
Fashion: Clothing-wise, I love underground stuff. Not exactly hipster--cause that's too mainstream. But Johnny Cupcakes is a hero, Nike's are CLASSIC, but you can 'def catch me wearing my Adidas chancletas. Comfort is key, ya digg.
Media: Americans have a crazy obsession with celebrities. Whatever is news is news however, and I will have my opinion on it.
Movies: Another great love of mine. Like books, they take you into a completely different world for about 100 minutes. I love the technique, thinking, creativity, and perfectionism that goes into movie-making--I'd love to take part in making something as CLASSIC as a movie that defies time. I love: The Breakfast Club, American Pie, Friday, Toy Story. All 90s Disney movies & I love scary movies.

Mission Statement:
I’ve got a fresh start, in a new town. I’ve got no family down here, no car, no guarantee that I’m going to succeed, shit, I don’t even know what my major is—but I’ve got the opportunity to make my city, my family, my friends proud and that’s what I’m going to do. TRUST. Before I die, I plan on putting Central Falls on the map, for something POSITIVE. I also plan on having my own Wikipedia page, that’ll be a milestone.
What I want everyone reading to know--
BOTTOM LINE—I don’t know where exactly I’m headed, but I’m only going up from here. So just nod, and smile when people tell you what you can’t or shouldn’t do—you know what’s good for you. Trust your gut and take the first step towards everything and anything you want.
EVERYTHING I WRITE is from the heart. I've never done this blogging deal before, but I figure the best way to do it would be to be honest and to be me. I'm always open to suggestions and I encourage them. We're all learning.
